Kelpies are known to be bloodthirsty and, well, rowdy when it comes to mares. So, on extremely rare occasions, unicorn/kelpie and antlaquin/kelpie foals are born. Because the only way for a kelpie to breed a mare would be in extremely deep waters, the mares often die, so you could see why these foals are so rare. I'm posting this because I don't think the water element should be exclusive to kelpies; that's no fun! Here are the rules for these foals:
1: Scales or scale-like markings: unless they have the water element, they only have scale-looking fur, almost like dapples, but it is much more defined. They only have scales if they have the water element because with that element they'd be swimmng. Otherwise, if the horse was Earth, the scales would get all crispy.
2: The water element. This is even rarer, as the element rarely crosses into over breeds' genes.
3: The child of a kelpie and land-species is never able to transform between a horse on land and a mer-horse in the water.
4: A kelpie cross can be a pegasus, but they do not have wings. They may have patches of feathers, but they cannot fly. These are even rarer, because water weighs down a pegasi's wings, therefore making swimming nearly impossible. A sleipni/kelpie foal is impossible: sleipni, being from the fire element, avoid water at all costs, and therefore would never fall under a kelpie's wrath.

PS: If you are planning on making a horse that is a kelpie cross, please PM me with their profile before posting it; I probably know most about the kelpies on this website, so I'll be the one to give you the no/go. If you get a no, don't be offended; we can't have a million kelpie-things running about!
