The day was quiet. Even the ocean quietly lapped at the shore like a sleeping kitten. The stampeding sound of hooves rang out clearly in the air, and soon a dark bay form was seen. His horn, a good two feet atleast long, wa placed ever so perfectly on his forehead. The only markings his muscular form held was a snip on the nose an a white stocking on his back leg. Anyone could tell you who he was. What he was. With a soft snort, Zeus made his way to the artifact ridden ocean shore. He gazed around, happy for some free and alone time. Mares swooned over him, wanting him.
The immortal paced the shore, and stopped when his hooves hit a metal cap. The helmet glittered in the morning light. He stared at it. It was the helmet of an old war horse. Groaning in displeasure, the bay took off at a leasurely trot. His black tail whisked out behind him, beating the air mercilessly. When he finally slowed, he wasn't even breathing hard. He looked around, dark yellow eyes picking up all the movements of anything that he caught in his line of view. He prayed no mare would find him here, or if one did, she wasn't out o be his mate. He wondered how his brothers fared from their last meeting.

She knew she shouldn't be out in the open., but she was. She smelled stallion in the air, but continued anyway.
This mare wasn't looking for a stallion surprisingly. She didn't recognize the scent, so she thought she could just kill him if he noticed her. She could probably too. Her large mass, striking hooves, and hypnotic glare all made formidable weapons against any opponant. She had killed many in her short life time. Hated it, but done it. So this mare was perfectly content walking near this brute, whoever he may be. -------- I walked slowly, enjoying the sunshine, enjoying the sand that made no noise under my hooves. The leaves over my head made dappled shadows on my already spotted pelt. The little birds in the stunted trees called to each other in soft voices, and the small animals scurried away from my feet. Today seemed to be a good day, the first in a while. I smiled tentatively. The brute's scent seemed far off, faint, so I knew that I could walk awhile before I had to change my course.
It had been a long time since I had left my hide-out, that forsaken cave. A month ago a nightmare came looking for me, so I was time to move again. Now I wasn't necessarily going anywhere. Just wandering. Hades had no power over me anymore, at least, I hoped. Things were so uncertain these days, It made my head weary to think about what I was going to do. Would Artemis accept me, or shun me? Would I be stuck forever in this dark world?
I caught a squirrel as I went, wincing and the bones made a slight crunch in my mouth. My eyes slowly turned amber, then golden, as I finished my meager meal. I could eat grass, but then I felt sick to my stomach for days on end. My eating habits probably would disgust most horses, but I couldn't help it. Sigh. Walking along for a little bit, I noticed the wind had shifted, suddenly blowing the scent of the brute into my nostrils. This stallion was much, much closer. To close. And I suddenly recognized the scent. Oh crap.
Zeus.
My heart pounded in my ears. I did not belong to his world. In his eyes I was still a daughter of Hades. And as an immortal, he could kill me within two seconds. I wouldn't stand a chance, no matter how much I fought. My footsteps sped into a flowing canter. If I could navigate around the driftwood, I might be able to sneak by unnoticed. There wasn't much of a chance, but it was my only option. Making no noise, I picked my way through the treacherous roots of the trees that bordered the beach. I could barely breath. Suddenly, the wind shifted again to his advantage. This was my last chance. Sprinting, running, then.... crack! He heard me. I shifted my forelock to cover my eyes, my secret, and slowly turned to face the God. [/size] ooc: haha sorry for the long post, I kinda got caught up in the moment! She is a rebel, she's running away from Hades. And yes, she is a nightmare. Here's a pic for the beach: www.fanpop.com/spots/beaches/images/5967627/title/beach-wallpaper ; the mare is kind of in the underbrush.

He had actually smelled her before he saw her. Well, he smelled her, and the blood. "Daughter of Hades, why have you come to a place with such peace. Your kind normally doens't enjoy such beauty." His voice rang with authority, and his dark bay head twisted on a thick neck to stare at her through yellow orbs. Actually, they were golden, a dark yellow mingled with brown around the iris. Signs of his electric powers. He blinked a few times, before turning completely. The tiny tuffs of fur on his ankles, caused by the draft in him, had sand mixed in the black fur. He struck the ground with his left, front leg. Sand flew, and tiny shards of electricity shocked the ground.
He rolled one shoulder, then another, and headed towards her. "You can't hide yourself from me. I am Zeus, as you obviously know. Else you wouldn't be trying to hide who you are. Yet, you don't seem to be proud to be a Nightmare. Has a daughterof Hades had second thoughts about her choice?" Calmy, he spoke. He wasn't nervous. Had no reason to be. She was of no harm to him. Not even his own brothers could harm him. His mind rolled back to that day, the biggest fight. When they realized they couldn't kill each other. The bloody battle made the bay shudder, and his mind was jostled back to the mare. He peered at her, waiting for her to speak.
To his side the ocean had picked up its tide. What is Selene doing? He was once more lost in thought. The seductress had caught him. The only mare to really catch his eye. After a few nights, they split, and a baby was formed. His only heir, at the time. A filly. He hadn't heard word of either mare after that. The ocean roared in his ears louder then it really was, and he shook his head. "Argh." The stallion grinded his teeth, and then realxed when everything calmed down. Birds had gone silent, and nothing but the ocean was in the air. He knew it was because a Nightmare was here, but it still made him uneasy. Yes, even a great immortal can become uneasy.
[/blockquote][/blockquote] ooc; Its fine. Its a wonderful post. And Im sorry I can't write half of that. You did great.

Thaelia stepped tentatively into the shadows. She cursed herself, hating that she had ever come to this beach. It was a stupid idea, she should have just hidden in some forsaken forest or something. Her gray bodice shone in the bright sunlight, and her eyes glistened golden. The mare held her chin high, eyeing the God warily. She did not trust anyone, ever. ------------ And I never would. Especially with this immortal who I knew not past the legends. Trusting would always lead to heartbreak, or so I have learned. Zeus chuckled and spoke. Daughter of Hades?!?! That was the one thing that I could not stand. The one thing that could break through my think shell. A low hiss escaped my teeth as I struggled to keep face. When I finally composed myself, I spoke gently. Graciousness was always more dangerous then when I am angry. "Of course I would enjoy it, who would keep me from doing so? Of course, I am not the same as most of my breed" I took a step forward, all ease as he turned around. He pranced and showed off his otherworldly powers. I could feel the electric current race through my bodice and I shivered slightly in spite of myself. Zeus rolled forward easily, so I took one step back. "I understand that 'oh fearless leader'. That was my mistake, to hide. Of course, I couldn't necessarily fight either. You force me to do the worst: talk civilly" I toyed with him just as he teased me, even lifting one corner of my mouth in a crooked smile. If he was going to be playful, I would play back. I was in total control of the situation. "Also, not daughter of Hades, daughter of Artemis. My little secret; don't tell" It grew silent for some time as the waves boiled and crashed against the shore. So much power and grace, I wish I could harness that. Soon the silence grew uncomfortable. Was I supposed to say something? Zeus moaned. Whas I really that bad? My eyes clouded with pain for all of two seconds. "Is my presence that disturbing?" The question was meant to be light, but the real question was thinly veiled behind the spoken one.

Her voice caught him off guard. He took a few more steps towards the retreating mare, almost testing her. She was frisky, yet backed down when stepped towards. He gazed at her, through her, and then stopped his approach. "Hades wouldn't be happy to know his own kind has turned to the earth. But I won't judge." he whisked his ebony tail over his ankles, electric sparks engraved his horn. The two foot long member resting on his forehead illuminated, then dimmed. He was backing in and out of thought. Golden orbs had left the mare, and when she spoke her last question, he lifted them back, hoping a reassuring gaze was what had lifted his facials.
He spoke, and neither stumbled nor grew nervous. "You, my dear, possess utter beauty. It twasnt you that made me groan, but instead another Goddess. Do not think so low of yourself." The bay took a few more, very hesitant steps towards her, this time honestly wanting to just be near someone, and in no way testing her. He was sub an important role model, such an important being. He never got time to himself, nor to be a normal equine. It stressed Zeus out, made him feel restrained. So to be able to talk with another horse that wasn't asking for advice or wanting some special favor, it was nice.
He stopped his assault towards her, feeling like he was imposing on the mares space. His muscles twitched as he forced himself to stay in one position. One thing Zeus didn't like was staying in one spot. He was forced to do that at meetings, and he didn't like it. Head dropped, then rose, then dropped, then rose, then went side to side. He took off at a lively trot, passingthe mare. "Come on a jog with me." a friendly request he couldn't make to most mares. Most of them were swooning over him by now. But this one was matching him attitude for attitude. It made him laugh, both externally and internally, something this semi-serious stud didn't do often. It made him wonder how good it was to be the ever so needed ruler and kit he was. If he could trust his brothers, he would hand his title over to them. But he couldn't trust them, not for something like that.

The dappled mare felt uneasy as he stepped forward. Painfully aware of how he looked at her, she took one tiny step back. Barely noticable. Here dark gray forelock brushed once more over her eyes, but shw did not lower her head. ---------- And I would not. After those teasing, direspectful words, no being I had ever known would take that lightly. I tensed. And yet, when he moved forward, it was not with anger, but ease. He gazed at me, through me,and my discomfort grew so much that I felt like turning tail and running away right there and then. But I stood tall instead, and listened intently to his words. "But that's just the point. I wish him every discomfort. Of course, he doens't have to know that" Zeus figited a little with his powers before speaking once more. My surprise grew with every word he said. If a horse (or demon, I wasn't quite sure yet of what I am) could ever blush, my cheekbones would be flushed a bright red. This was ridiculous! Who was this mare, embaressed at mere words? The solitude was officially messing with my brains. I nodded once, not sure of what to say. Zeus moved forward once more until I could faintly feel his breath on the tips of my ears. He towered over me, and I had to tilt my chin slightly up to look him in the eye. I stood my ground, staring back at him. My old additude was still there, but his comment had shaken me just a tad. I was not loving this brute, not even close, but no one had ever given me a comment like that. It did feel kind of okay to be talking to someone as equals. But for all I knew, this could change in two seconds. Trust was not the answer. I had learned that to give up my guard was death. My eyes had seen too many young die that way. He figited for a bit, tossing his head and pawing a bit. The god clearly was not comfortable staying still for too long. Zeus spoke once more. Jog with him? Going from teasing me about my ancestry to talking like we were old friends and I was just missing part of my memory, this stallion seemed almost bipolar. I stood stiff as a board for a moment, watching him pass me in a quick jog. Then breaking into a flowing trot, I matched his speed,my hooves tapping in tune to his thudding. "Sure, if you can keep up" I said mysteriously. I was in control of this. I had to be. Because really, if you thought about it, what other choice did I have? ------------- The small dappled mare matched pace with the giant bay draft. If you looked closely against the sun, you could see that the mare's dainty nose was just a bit ahead.

The sun made the ocean sparkle. He smiled, noticing hte few inches of lead she had on him. He didn't mind. It felt good just to be moving. Muscles rippled under the dark chocolate coat, and his mind almost started to wander. But he was able to catch himself. He glanced over at her, golden eyes reflecting the dapple mare perfectly. "Do you mind sharing abit about yourself with me? You're quite odd." He didn't mean to sound harsh if she took it that way. His ears pricked as he caught sight of a small cave. His hooves slowed to a quiet humming, and he veered slightly to go towards the abyss. "Let's explore."
He didn't wait for her responce. His hooves felt the change from sand to stone, and small electric sparks lit up the cave as his hooves clapped onto the stone. He gazed around, and a smile raised his maw. "What an odd place, eh?" He looked back towards the smaller mare, horn barely mossing the wall. This cave was just big enough for two horses to stravel side by side. He waited this time. He didn't want to make a bad impression on her. Not when he played such a high role in this society. He really was a good stag, but when it came to common talk, he utterly failed. He needed some guidance, like a new foal.

Everything in the world seemed to sparkle. The warm sun, the green- blue of the waves, both of the horses coats glistened under the sunlight. It burned the mare's eyes, but still she trotted next to the huge bay. Nimbly navigating the roots and stones she watched the bay with wary eyes. -------------- He was so odd. Considering the circumstances, it was surprising I wasn't dead by now or at least send running back to Hades. I couldnt decipher any of his thoughts. will you jog with me? Such a normal question, so why did it feel so strange? Anyway. At least it felt nice, getting some exercise out under the sun. But I couldn't relax to save my life. Who knows if he was one of those mindreaders or something? He could see my previous path in life, something I wasn't proud of. We jogged along for some time, just thinking. It was a relief when Zeus finally spoke. Would I tell him about myself? I pondered in silence for a bit. When he spoke again I nodded slightly. We veered off into a cave before I spoke, deciding to give him the edited version.
"I was born in a large community of nightmares and Chimeras. This was when Hades had been in hiding for a while. He was very proud of my mother, she had twins often when she birthed. His children. I still don't know if I'm his direct daughter. My mother rejoiced in all the praise, craved more. She trained us all hard, so hard that a brother died under the stress. But I didn't die. I thrived under the training, growing strong and intelligent for battle. But when I was two I met Rzor. He had visions Of a rebellion against Hades, a better world. He and I slipped away quite often, watching the unicorns peacefully graze along with atlantaquin"
I paused for a second, looking down at the rocky cave floor.
"Yes, it's a very odd place. I've never been here before"
He looked at me and waited for me to catch up. I hadn't realized that I had fallen behind. I smiled a small crooked halfsmile.
"Rzor died of course. He got too pushy and was killed while shouting at the top of his lungs all of Hades' lies. I decided that enough was enough. If he couldnt live, why should I? I tried so many things, jumping off cliffs, swimming in kelpy infested waters, eating poisonous plants. But nothing worked. I was so depressed that one day instead of training I stumbled off. I had no idea where I was going, and soon I was running blindly through the trees. The last I remember was hearing a mockingbird do a warning call. I think I went off a cliff. When I woke up, I came here, not sure what I was looking for"
I glanced at him fOr a second and then grinned to try to ease this tense situation.
"I said too much"

ooc; I'm so, so, so sorry about the long wait. I don't know hwere my mind was. But Im slowly getting back into this. Excuse any poor paragraphs. Also, is that myyyy Zeus in your picture on your siggy? LOL.
Zeus walked along the wall, the tiny electric sparks lighting up his hooves. He knew this would happen the moment he stepped foot on the granite. It was like rubbing to rocks together. Electric sparks sprang out, bouncing on the floor for a split second before vanishing. He listened to her but watched where he was going so he wouldn't run into a wall and make a fool of his self. He wasn't trying to impress this mare by any means. He was hoping she wasn't thinking that they would ever be mates. He wanted a mate, to be normal, to have a life other then the over ruling god. But because he was the main brother, the one that both his brothers loved and hated, he didn't think he would have the time for a mate. And even if he did, she would constently be in danger by his enemies.
He looked towards her, pausing his movements. Her smile melted his heart. The only light besides a tiny dot towards the end of the tunnel that they could see was the glow from his long horn. It illuminated her face, and a laugh was emitted from his vocals, echoing off the wall. He spoke softly, hoping his bass voice wouldn't radiate again. "You merely answered my question, miss. Don't fear rejection or denial or judgement." He nuzzled her mane, blowing his fuming breath onto the nape of the mare. His breaht was almost electrifying. After hundreds of years of learnign his element, it was so much a part of him, it was next to impossible for him to realize when he was doing these tiny acts of electricity. He pulled his bulk away, and turned down a narrower hallway. He paused, making sure she knew that he had turned, and lit the way down the area.
When he spotted daylight, he trotted. Biger sparks flew, lasting alittle longer out int he open before vanishing again. He was stunned to speechlessness when he saw the scenery. Before them a beautiful scene unfolded. Birds flew high in the air, wings clipping the clouds. When you looked below, you could see the water fall, with vines and flowers and everythign else that was beautiful tangled all around it. They were just a few hundred feet above it. There was a walk way towards the floor of the waterfall, where they could walk behind it, then walk around on the lush green floor. It was beyond beautiful. It was the single most beautiful thing he had ever seen. He didn't realize how far up they were, and how far down that was. What a drop.
"Beautiful.." His voice was a hushed whisper. He dropped his head a few notchs, black tinged muzzle opening slightly, speaking silent words. He stepped closer to the edge, a few crumbs of the cliff tumbling down the hundreds of feet to the lush floor. He quickly stepped back, then looked towards him. Her dapple coat seemed like diamonds in this light. He was thrown back into his speechless state. She fit perfect with the natural beauty the world possesed. He smiled, a genuine smile, and started walking down the pathway. He wanted to explore. He seemed to remember this secluded place from a dream of his. But he couldn't put his tongue on it. It was so strange to remember yet not remember.
